Esta página está dedicada a la memoria y la obra del padre franciscano Antonio Camiñas, el motor principal de un programa para albergar transitoriamente en España a niños cubanos enviados por sus padres para escapar del castro-comunismo. Gracias a este proyecto, miles de niños recibieron educación y refugio en la madre Patria mientras esperaban el momento de reunirse con sus padres. El espíritu y la dedicación del Padre Camiñas fueron decisivos en el éxito de esta noble iniciativa.
El propósito de esta página es recopilar la mayor cantidad de información escrita, ya sea en forma de recortes de periódicos, cartas personales, fotografías o anécdotas personales, de parte de todas las personas involucradas en el proyecto. Todo ese material será utilizado en la confección de un libro sobre esta experiencia, el cual será escrito por el activista y periodista Omar López Montenegro, fundador del movimiento pro derechos humanos dentro de Cuba y Director de Derechos Humanos de la Fundación Nacional Cubano Americana, con el apoyo de un nutrido grupo de colaboradores y entusiastas. El libro estará patrocinado por el Fondo de Estudios Cubanos y Cubano Americanos de la FNCA, y recogerá la historia desde el punto de vista de los niños, las familias y los trabajadores del proyecto, y estará por supuesto centrado en la figura del Padre Camiñas. Se estudia también la posibilidad de, una vez escrito el libro, producir un documental sobre esta gran obra humanitaria.

This page is dedicated to the memory and works of Franciscan Father Antonio Camiñas , the driving force behind the program that provided shelter in Spain to Cuban children sent alone by their parents to escape Castro’s communist regime.
Thanks to this project, thousands of children received refuge and education while in transit thru Spain waiting to reunite with their relatives in the US. The effort and dedication of Fr Camiñas were a key element in the success of this noble endeavor.
The purpose of this page is to gather the most amount of information available on this subject. We are looking for newspaper clips, letters and personal anecdotes from anyone who was a part of this chapter of our history.
All the material compiled will be used to write a book by journalist and activist Omar López Montenegro, founder of the human rights movement inside Cuba and Human Rights Director of the Cuban American National Foundation, he counts with the support of a large group of collaborators whose interest and enthusiasm is driven by the close ties to this experience.
The book will be sponsored by CANF’s Endowment for Cuban American Studies, and it will portray the story from the point of view of the children and their families as well as the people who worked on the project, the central figure being father Camiñas. The possibility of producing a documentary about this humanitarian gesture is also being considered.
